Schoolchildren from the Capital of Children write a rap track
“Children Are Children” is the name of a brand new rap track written by pupils from the Capital of Children paying tribute to the UN’s Child Convention, which turned 23 years old on Tuesday 20 November 2012.
The track can be downloaded on iTunes for 8 kr. – click here for more info.
The music video can be seen on You Tube here.
The original song was composed and edited by Billund Culture School’s Thomas Gundal, and sung by Danish artist Mek Pek and pupils from the forth grade of Hejnsvig School and the fifth grade at Søndre School in Billund municipality.
The track was performed for the first time during the Convention’s birthday party at the Capital of Children, a celebration organized jointly by Capital of Children Company and UNICEF.
The party was held at the Lalandia Aquadome in Billund and included performances from UNICEF ambassadors Bubber and Mek Pek, as well as X Factor’s Basim, a former child expert for UNICEF. In front of 600 happy guests they paid tribute to the Convention, an important treaty that protects children’s rights the world over.
And it was in front of this enthusiastic, packed crowd that the two classes from the Capital of Children proudly performed their new song with Mek Pek.
