Children Welcome Quality Mark

A new ‘Quality Mark’ scheme for shops hosting ‘child-friendly’ experiences has been launched in the Capital of Children in Billund. The Children Welcome Quality Mark will be displayed in shop windows and advertises that they have a focus on children.

A shop can interact with children in many ways. It might be a baker who lets children decorate cakes, a pharmacy with microscopes to look through, a clothing store with a display of colorful costumes or simply a stool set up in front of a checkout so youngsters can watch their gifts being wrapped. It’s up to the imagination of the shop owners!

Billund’s shops can apply for the Children Welcome Quality Mark by completing an application and delivering it to the Capital of Children Company in Billund town center. The application form can be downloaded in Danish here

An independent committee assesses whether an individual store has earned the Children Welcome Quality Mark 2013. The committee consists of one adult and one child who visit the store unannounced and if there is a special treat for the young visitor, the store is presented with the Children Welcome Quality Mark.

The deadline for applications for the Children Welcome Quality Mark 2013 is 1st March 2013, but as this is the first year of the initiative, Capital of Children Company will also accept applications during the month following.

Shops who apply for and receive the Children Welcome Quality Mark 2013 will automatically receive one for next year too – Children Welcome Quality Mark 2014.
